What StreetVet volunteering is and who it’s for

StreetVet is a multi-award-winning national charity providing free, essential and accessible veterinary care and support to the pets of people experiencing homelessness.

Our volunteers are the heart of StreetVet. They help us deliver practical, compassionate care and remove barriers that stop people with pets accessing shelter and support.

Who it’s for

Volunteering with StreetVet is for people who want to use their time, skills and compassion to support:

  • Pets owned by people experiencing homelessness

  • Frontline homelessness services (through our Accredited Hostel & Day Centre Scheme)

  • StreetVet’s wider mission (through central support and fundraising)

Whether you’re a vet professional, a student, or someone who wants to support behind the scenes, there’s a role that can make a genuine difference.

What our volunteers do

StreetVet volunteers support our work in a few key ways, including:

  • Running regular outreach clinics across the UK

  • Supporting our central team (e.g. events planning for our annual conference)

  • Conducting hostel visits as part of the StreetVet Accredited Hostel & Day Centre Scheme

  • Raising funds for StreetVet through local events and community activity

Roles and Opportunities

At StreetVet, we have four main volunteering opportunities available — each vital in supporting our mission:

Volunteer Vet
Provide clinical care and advice at outreach, supporting pets who may not otherwise access veterinary treatment.

Volunteer RVN
Support clinical delivery, animal handling, triage and treatment support in a fast-moving outreach environment.

Support Volunteer
A flexible non-clinical role supporting outreach clinics, carrying out administrative tasks, and helping with logistics , conducting hostel/day centre visits, and providing professional skills.

Community Fundraising Volunteer
Help raise awareness and funds locally by attending events, organising activities and championing StreetVet in your community.
